(DALLAS, Texas, October 2, 2009)—Eric Celeste, former managing editor for D Magazine and Southwest Airlines’ Spirit magazine and 20-year veteran journalist, has been hired by D Custom as senior content strategist.
In his new role he will employ his years of editorial perspective to enhance client messaging and increase meaningful results. This unique viewpoint is a perfect complement for powerful custom content.
When asked why a traditional journalist would make the leap to custom media, Eric said, "After 20 years of working in print and online media, I decided I wanted to help clients understand how stories really make the cut. I think that while traditional public relations and marketing approaches are necessary and have value, meaningful press only comes from matching compelling stories with the proper media outlet. I can help clients look at their business with the eye of an editor, identify what their compelling story is, and get it told in a way that brings in revenue and enhances their current branding and marketing goals."
Since graduating from SMU in 1990, he has worked at (in chronological order) the Dallas Morning News, D Magazine, The Met, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Microsoft Sidewalk, DFW Lifestyles, back to the Star-Telegram, the Dallas Observer, American Way, Southwest Spirit, Celeste Media, and, finally, D Magazine.

Eric won a Katie Award for his story “Who Killed Baby Eric?” in 1993. He has won three Press Club of Dallas Katie awards for his writing and one for editing. In 2005, he won a national first-place AAN Altweekly Award for media reporting.
