(DALLAS, Texas, January 12, 2006)—People Newspapers won six awards in the 2005 SNA Editorial Contest, judged by The American Press Institute. People Newspapers will be acknowledged for their awards at SNA’s Spring Publishers’ Awards Banquet on March 1-3, 2006, in Palm Springs, Calif.
The SNA Awards cover the United States and Canada. The 2005 awards included a record 3,100 entries in 37 categories. The six awards People Newspapers won are Best Photojournalism, honorable mention, “South by Southwest”; Best Arts & Entertainment Writing Feature, 3rd place, “The Curator’s Art”; Best Arts & Entertainment Criticism/Commentary, 1st place, “Grizzly Obsessions”; Best Non-Page One Layout, 2nd place; Best Coverage of Local Education/School District Issues, 3rd place; Best In-depth Reporting, 1st place, “Road Testing the Park Cities”.
People Newspapers is comprised of eight weekly community newspapers. Park Cities People celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2006. Since 1987, Park Cities People has been awarded the Sweepstakes Award twelve times by the Texas Press Association. People Newspapers launched seven additional newspapers in September 2004: Preston Hollow People, Turtle Creek People, Bluffview People, Lakewood People, Lake Highlands People, Bent Tree People, and West Plano People.
