(DALLAS, Texas, November 27, 2006)— D Custom, the custom media division of D Magazine Partners, has won a Gold and Silver Pearl Award at the fourth annual Pearl Awards. synnovation (EDS) won the Gold Award for Best Overall Editorial for publications with a circulation less than 50,000 and For the Cure (Susan G. Komen for the Cure) won the Silver Award for the Design for Best New Publication/Newsletter. The Pearl Awards recognize the marriage of journalism and commerce, celebrating reader-driven content that conveys a sponsor’s message. The Custom Publishing Council (CPC), the leading professional organization representing custom publishers in North America, honors custom publishers for excellence in design, editorial, and strategic initiatives. The CPC received an overwhelming 572 entries for this year’s competition, a 21% increase from 2006. Pearl Award judges included professionals from journalism, academia, marketing, and publishing. This year’s honorees were announced at New York City’s Rainbow Room on November 11 before an audience of 140 custom publishing executives. The awards were presented by Samir Husni, Ph.D., chair of the University of Mississippi’s journalism department, and Laurel Touby, founder and CEO of mediabistro. “We are honored to be recognized with these esteemed awards.
