(DALLAS, Texas, October 23, 2006) – D Home, city shelter magazine and sister publication to D Magazine, won Folio’s Gold Award in the category of Consumer Shelter/Home magazine. D Home was the only non-national shelter magazine that was a finalist for this Folio’s Eddie award. Executive editor Rebecca Sherman was in attendance at the awards banquet at Cipriani 42nd Street restaurant Oct. 22 in New York City to accept this prestigious award.

"For a local magazine to have achieved national recognition at this level is unprecedented," publisher Christine Allison said. "This not only affirms that our editors and designers are outstanding but also that the people we cover–the home, garden, and design professionals in this city–are intrinsically important and interesting. I think New York was surprised to see the level of excellence we have here in Dallas."

Last year's winner in this category was national publication Vogue Living. This year, other Gold Award winners include Glamour, Billboard, National Geographic Adventure, People en Español, and Newsweek.

The prestigious Eddie and Ozzie awards recognize excellence in editorial content and magazine design. Some 2,200 entries were submitted this year and more than 100 expert judges spent a month making nominations and choosing winners. The Eddies are open to all magazines—consumer, b-to-b, association, etc. Magazines are evaluated against their own mission statements rather than against the competition. Entrants are judged on how well they fulfill their mission statements, the quality of their content, and how the overall design and production supports their mission.

D Home is the sister publication of D Magazine and is a beautiful and authoritative source for decorating, remodeling services, furniture, accessories, gardening, landscaping, entertaining, cooking, art, and antiques, as well as health, fitness, and beauty. The 6-year-old bimonthly is the 2006 Gold Award winner of Folio’s Eddie award in the Consumer Shelter/Home magazine category and the first regional home and garden magazine to win the Gold Medal for General Excellence from the City and Regional Magazine Association.
