(DALLAS, Texas, October 2, 2006) – D Home, city shelter magazine and sister publication to D Magazine, has been nominated as one of three finalists for the 2006 Folio’s Eddie award in the category of Best Consumer Shelter/Home magazine. D Home is the lone finalist that is not a national shelter magazine in this category. The Eddie and Ozzie Awards recognize excellence in editorial content and magazine design.
"For D Home to be sitting at the table this year with Sports Illustrated, National Geographic, InStyle, and Newsweek is not only a testimony of our editorial and design team but also to the city of Dallas itself. We cover one of the most sophisticated markets in the country, and it is wonderful for all of us to be getting this recognition,” says Christine Allison, publisher of D Home.
Some 2,200 entries were submitted to Folio’s Eddie and Ozzie Awards and more than 100 expert judges spent a month deciding on the nominations and winners. The Eddies are open to all magazines—consumer, b-to-b, association, etc. Magazines are evaluated against their own mission statements, rather than against the competition. Entrants are judged on how well they fulfill their mission statements, the quality of their content, and how the overall design and production supports their mission.
Winners will be announced at an awards banquet at Cipriani 42nd Street restaurant on Oct. 22 in New York City. The Awards Gala will kick off the 2006 FOLIO: Show, October 23-25 at the New York Hilton.
D Home is the sister publication of D Magazine and is a beautiful and authoritative source for decorating, remodeling services, furniture, accessories, gardening, landscaping, entertaining, cooking, art, and antiques, as well as health, fitness, and beauty. The 6-year-old bimonthly is the first regional home and garden magazine to win the Gold Medal for General Excellence from the City and Regional Magazine Association.
