FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(DALLAS, Texas, October 29, 2006) – On October 21, 2006, D Home hosted the inaugural Designers’ Choice Home Tour, raising $24,000 for Genesis Women’s Shelter. The tour showcased five homes in the Turtle Creek, Park Cities, and Preston Hollow areas, each handpicked by respected Dallas designers John Gregory, Nancy Leib, Cheri Etchelecu Martin, Joseph Minton, and Julio Quinones.

At the kickoff tent, more than 600 tour attendees enjoyed entertainment, a cooking demonstration, and retail product demonstrations. Air-conditioned shuttle buses departed every 20 minutes on two available routes.

“The Designers’ Choice Home Tour was a hugely successful event, and we were incredibly honored to partner with the fantastic team at D Home,” says Jan Langbein, executive director at Genesis Women’s Shelter. “Not only did guests have the opportunity to tour homes selected and decked out by top interior designers, but each ticket purchased directly benefited the women and children who fled their homes to seek safety, shelter, and comfort at Genesis Women’s Shelter. It is through the generosity of the Dallas community that we are able to keep our lights on and continue to provide our residential and counseling services at no cost to out clients. We are most appreciative for all those who supported this inaugural event.”

D Home is the sister publication of D Magazine and is a beautiful and authoritative source for decorating, remodeling services, furniture, accessories, gardening, landscaping, entertaining, cooking, art, and antiques, as well as health, fitness, and beauty. The 6-year-old bimonthly is the first regional home and garden magazine to win the Gold Medal for General Excellence from the City and Regional Magazine Association.
