D Magazine Titles Nominated for 11 of the Press Club of Dallas’ 2006 Katie Awards

(DALLAS, Texas, October 16, 2006)—Three of D Magazine Partners’ publications are nominated for 11 awards for the Press Club of Dallas’ 48th Annual Katie Awards, which recognizes excellence in journalism and mass communications. The Katie Awards will be held at a dinner reception on November 18, at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.

The Katie Awards cover the state of Texas and its contiguous states. The awards include 155 categories organized into eight divisions.

The seven awards D Magazine is nominated for in the Magazine Category are: Consumer Guide for “Dallas Shops!”; Investigative News Story for “The Schemer” and “The DISD Asbestos Coverup”; Magazine News Story for “Power Play”; Editorial Column for “The Politics of Theater”; Best Magazine Illustration “Why Isn’t Don Hill in Jail Yet?”; and Photography Portfolio by Elizabeth Lavin.

DallasCEO is nominated for three awards in the Magazine Category: Magazine Cover, Commercial for the July cover story “The Rocketeer” about John Carmack, CEO of Armadillo Aerospace; Magazine Design, Commercial for the June issue; and Best Magazine.

D Home is nominated for one award in the Magazine Category: Feature Story for “Sacred Treasures”.

D Magazine celebrated its 30th anniversary in October of 2004. D Magazine has been awarded the gold medal for General Excellence two times in the past five years by the City and Regional Magazine Association. This year, D Magazine won the gold medal for Excellence Online at the 2004-2005 City and Regional Magazine Awards.

DallasCEO is a monthly, sophisticated publication, created by the publishers of D Magazine, targeting C-levels and business leaders of Dallas-Forth Worth area companies with annual revenue of more than $2 million.
