Elise Anthony

Elise Anthony

Editorial Director - Thought Leadership, Gardening

Elise Anthony’s extensive knowledge of thought-leadership and gardening along with more than 12 years of journalism experience has carried her through publishing companies spanning morning newspapers and luxury-living magazines. Elise helped launch Modern Luxury Dallas into the Dallas market and fueled its growth into a monthly publication as editor-in-chief.

Elise came to D in 2007 and has loved the opportunities she’s been given to write about thought-leadership and best business practices. In addition to her expansive knowledge of words, she also digs gardening, decorating and the thrill of the antique-store chase.

“The most exciting part of contributing to thought leadership is the tremendous creativity involved, and the impact for change, whether it’s studying how one company took a data center on the road or how major enterprises can learn from the corporate upstarts.”

Mark Mahorsky

Mark Mahorsky

Design Director

Originally from the northeast, Mark Mahorsky’s extensive, nationally recognized portfolio encompasses marketing, advertising and editorial experience. He started his career at Rodale Press, working on national magazines such as Prevention, Runner’s World, Men’s Health and Bicycling. He moved to Austin, Texas, to art direct and design titles such as Texas Parks & Wildlife, Texas Highways, Austin Monthly and later consulted and freelanced custom content for Texas Monthly and D Custom before accepting a full-time position at D Custom as design director.

Mark has won numerous accolades for his design, including Magazine of the Year and Best Magazine Design (twice) by the International Regional Magazine association, Maggie Award(s) for Best Magazine design and Best Cover Design (twice), as well as several Katie Awards from the Dallas Press Club for Best Magazine Design and Cover Design. As a result, he’s often asked to judge related competitions.

“I love to design. It allows me to make something out of nothing. Being a results-oriented person, it just makes sense in a creative way.”

Kristy Alpert

Kristy Alpert

Assistant Editor - Fitness, Music, Religion and Sustainability

Kristy Alpert is our resident fitness, music, religion and sustainable living expert. She loves studying world religions and worked in youth ministry for three years prior to jumping headfirst into magazine publishing. Although she formed her publishing chops at a golf magazine, she has yet to swing a golf club––unless putting at a windmill counts.

Kristy made the switch to organic two years ago and now views each day as a challenge to lessen her impact on the environment. Along with her passions for grammar and fact checking, Kristy loves accompanying her guitar-playing husband with any kind of African drum or percussion instrument. Kristy also enjoys drinking a cup of fair-trade, Yerba Matte while reading a good book with her Boston Terrier, Tobias, by her side.

“Who would have thought that years of working with teenagers and eating healthy would have paved the way for me to write about topics I’m passionate about!”

Mary Candace Evans

Mary Candace Evans

Editor - Real Estate

Mary Candace Evans is a self-proclaimed House Porn addict, which is why she delights in reporting on real estate. If shoes were homes, she’d top Imelda Marcos. She broke the story on former President George Bush’s return to Dallas, the Jonas Brothers’ move to Southlake and Cowboy star Tony Romo’s newest bachelor pad, among others. She is sought for her advice and opinions by NPR, BBC World Service, Texas Monthly and local and national media.

From Beverly Drive to Daria Place, to the coves of Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica; the magnificent greens at Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; the beaches of southern Maine; the colonial charm of San Miguel De Allende and the warm sands of Baja California Sur, Candy brings readers the most beautiful home properties in the world.

“Real estate is the most important financial story of this era. I’m slightly obsessed, I even dream about it—but that’s what drives me to give readers the latest news, trends and facts from both coasts.”

Todd Johnson

Todd Johnson

Creative Director

Todd Johnson is a magazine junkie. He reads them, hordes them, dissects them and ultimately recycles them. (“Hey, you gotta be green,” he says.) It’s no surprise then that Todd’s passion for monthly glossies has lead him to exactly where he wants to be: corporate creative director for D Magazine Partners, parent company of D Custom. “I’m a lucky guy,” he beams. “I get to work with some of the greatest photographers and illustrators in the world as well as a talented staff of art directors who create entertaining, provocative and beautiful magazines month after month.” Todd’s designs have appeared in the pages of D’s various award-winning publications and Texas Business, The Met, Texas Technology and Texas Lawyer. (“Hmmm you think I’m a Texas boy perhaps?” he jokes.) He’s also been honored by the American Society of Magazine Editors, Folio Magazine, the City and Regional Magazine Association, Columbia University, the Dallas Press Club and the Dallas Society of Visual Communication.

“My favorite part of my job is the breadth of what we do. Fashion, home décor, investigative journalism, beauty, weddings, fine dining—it’s that variety that fuels my creativity and keeps me in love with this company.”

Peggy Levinson

Peggy Levinson

Editor - Interior Design

Peggy Levinson has worked in the interior design world for the last 30 years, owning showrooms, consulting with designers and bringing some of the top fabric and furniture lines to Dallas. After leaving the showroom business, and a very brief unremarkable career in real estate, she’s found a wonderful home reporting on home style and design, sometimes creating trends rather than just reporting them. She loves good design, working with quirky designers and making the most of a couple of decades in design.

“Great design is so accessible—from showrooms to retail shops and big box stores. And, it doesn’t have to cost the world—just be original—with quality and style.”

Nancy Nichols

Nancy Nichols

Editor - Travel and Food

Nancy Nichols has spent nearly 20 years in and around the restaurant business. Many people believe Nancy has the best job in the world, and Nancy is the last person to doubt those sentiments. A life-long adventure traveler, Nancy has visited Africa eight times and toured the Middle East, Europe and China. In 2001, just six weeks after the World Trade Center catastrophe, Nancy and six Dallas-area restaurateurs organized a trip to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and delivered 10,000 pounds of food to the soldiers. Her love of learning to cook has led her to take week-long cooking lessons in France and Italy. She has also led several successful culinary tours across the globe.

“Sometimes I have to pinch myself when I think I get paid to eat and travel.”

Glenn Hunter

Glenn Hunter

Executive Editor - Business

Glenn Hunter has specialized in business journalism since the 1980s, when he began reporting on industries ranging from insurance and real estate to venture capital and auto manufacturing.

Before coming to D CEO magazine, where he’s served as executive editor since 2007, Glenn was editor of the Dallas Business Journal for eight years. Under his leadership, the Dallas Business Journal won numerous accolades, including a Best in Business award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

Since joining D, Glenn has regularly written about business and businesspeople for the publication's FrontBurner® Blog, drawing national—and international—attention for his insightful commentary and news-making exclusives.

“Business has become the hottest topic of our time. Keeping up with its key players is a fascinating, never-ending challenge.”

Julie Blacklidge

Julie Blacklidge

Online Publisher - Wine and Online Publishing

Julie Blacklidge splits her time between online publishing and writing about wine and spirits. She has been working online since 1998 when she graduated from San Francisco State University and started as associate editor for Iconocast, Business 2.0’s Internet marketing newsletter. In addition to a few dotcom bombs, she has worked with Vineyard & Winery Management, San Francisco magazine, Business 2.0, Maximum PC, MacAddict and The Fort Worth Business Press. She is a certified sommelier through the International Sommelier Guild and travels to wine regions regularly to learn about native varietals, soil types, climate influences and, of course, to taste the local wine and spirits.

“It takes a lot of good wine to make great Web sites.”

David W. Radabaugh

David W. Radabaugh

Deputy Art Director

David Radabaugh is a highly organized, analytical and creative problem-solver with a master of fine arts degree in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design. With more than 15 years of experience in design practice, theory and university-level teaching, David is especially proficient at visual narrative and public lectures. He has designed for a disparate body of clients, including Jac Alder’s Theatre Three and the Department of Defense.

“Design must communicate effectively to be of value, but effective design must also intrigue. A story left unread serves no one.”

Rhonda Reinhart

Rhonda Reinhart

Editor - Beauty

Rhonda Reinhart began her journalism career in 1997 as a copy editor in the fast-paced world of daily newspapers. After a few years of late-night proofreading and headline writing, she moved to Dallas to be the editorial operations manager for the Dallas Observer. When she left the Observer in 2005 to be the managing editor of Southwest Airlines’ Spirit magazine, she realized her heart belonged to magazines. After a stint with a short-lived start-up publication focused on national real estate, she joined the D team, where she’s a managing beauty editor, a job any girl would love.

“Sampling the newest cosmetics and trying out the city’s top spa treatments is a tough job, but somebody has to do it.”
